Vintage Avon Jewelry
For boys, Avon introduced the Race Car Wristchain in the Campaign 20 1981 brochure. It is a stainless steel link bracelet with authentically detailed pewter racing car. You can actually move the racing car back and forth along the chain (you have to move it - it does not swing by itself). The car features air deflector, hood scoops and wide radial-like tires. Pretty cool!
It is 7 1/2" long, has a spring ring clasp with an Avon hang tag and comes in its original box.
Avon began operations in the mid 1880s in Manhattan, NY by David McConnell as the California Perfume Company (CPC). In 1939, the company changed it’s name to Avon Products, Inc. Although Avon first introduced jewelry items to hold solid perfume (glace) in 1965, it wasn't until 1971 that jewelry was officially offered with the Precious Pretenders Collection.
